Michele Moor is a native of Uster and Steinmaur ZH and was born in Sorengo on February 6, 1965, at 06:40, as the firstborn son of Silvio and Ines, born Cazzaniga. He has two brothers, Lorenzo and Stefano. He spent his youth in Cureglia, where he attended kindergarten and elementary school before moving on to the gymnasium in Savosa.
On October 18, 1997, he married Caroline Roost at the Church of San Cristoforo in Cureglia. Their marriage resulted in four children: Johannes, Caterina, Teresa, and Francesco. He currently resides in Cureglia.
In 1984, he obtained a scientific high school diploma from Liceo Cantonale di Lugano 2, earning an award for the second-best diploma. In 1990, he graduated in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Electronics and Medical Technology, at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. In 1992, he obtained a second degree in Business Administration, specializing in Fiduciary Activities and Auditing, at the University of St. Gallen. Besides Italian, he speaks and writes fluently in German, French, and English. He is also fluent in Swiss German.
Like many Swiss citizens, he deeply values the institutions of his country, particularly the Church and the Army.
He is a practicing Catholic and has a deep attachment to the Parish of San Cristoforo in Cureglia, where he was baptized, received First Communion, Confirmation, and got married. He is also a member of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament and the Blessed Virgin of the Girdle, currently serving as Prior.
In 1988, together with other students, he founded the Association of Ticino Students in Zurich (ASTAZ), where he became a board member and later president. This association aims to strengthen the friendship among its members, promote their cultural development, uphold the dignity of Italian-speaking people in Switzerland, defend their language and traditions, and enhance their awareness and duties. The association organizes student meetings, cultural, recreational, and sports events.
In 1989, he co-founded the Rotaract Club Sottoceneri.
In 1990, he established the Schweizerischer Studentenreiterverband (SSRV) as a board member and later president. This association represents Swiss university students who compete in equestrian sports.
In 1998, he was appointed as the representative of foreign banks on the Economic Policy Commission of the Swiss Bankers Association.
In 2004, he joined the board of the Swiss Officers' Society as vice-president and representative of the Società Ticinese degli Ufficiali. On March 12, 2005, he was elected president of the Swiss Officers' Society in Aarau, a significant political role he held until 2008.
In 2007 and 2019, Michele Moor ran for the National Council for the Christian Democratic People's Party (PPD), offering his expertise to lay the foundation for the country's freedom, prosperity, and economic and social growth.
On April 18, 2021, the people of Cureglia elected him to the Municipality as a representative of "Il Centro." He took this role very seriously, preparing meticulously for his new duties. However, during this preparation, he discovered various irregularities committed by the previous legislative and executive authorities. Since his colleagues in the Municipality did not take these issues seriously and even committed further irregularities, he was forced to report them to the competent authorities. The responses confirmed most of his findings, especially the most significant ones. In 2023, he resigned from the Municipality, convinced that public administration must strictly adhere to laws and regulations. Municipal officials must observe the principle of collegiality, but only for decisions that comply with legal and regulatory frameworks.
In 2024, he was re-elected to the Municipality on the UDC-Lega-Independents list. He currently serves as an independent municipal official in Cureglia, responsible for finance, private construction, and urban planning.
